Medical Care

The Angry Bear is at it again... waiting times in countries with socialised medicine are not, in fact, longer than here in the US. This despite the fact that we spend a whole lot more on the business than countries we despise, like France. On top of which, we don't even get a particularly good return on investment in the sense of good public health outcomes.

Blugger Blogger

Elaine Supkis, wonderful story - consistent with the MIT rumors in '86 about the shuttle explosion.

This women deserves a Koufax.

Elaine Supkis

You heard it here, first: Koufax 2005 for Best New Blog.

Back at MIT, in '86, the story about the Space Shuttle explosion held that Saint Reagan ordered the launch - cold weather be damned - because he wanted to score cheap political points by chatting with the teacher in space. Bad idea, but he scored his points anyway - by looking somber at the funeral. Supkis has her own version of the inside story.

Mankiw Blunders

As always, any naive statement of the truth winds up being a hideous political blunder. Bibamus gives the low-down.

Short version: this nattering about rates-of-return is stupid, the end of Social Security will set us FREE!
